Virgin birth?

V

I believe, along with many others, we are at the beginning of a great outpouring of the Almighty’s spirit in which countless millions will believe in Yahusha the Messiah for the first time or be renewed in their faith.

It is the purpose of this website, AbrahamsAcademy.com, for those newly born or renewed to have a place where they can grow in the favour and knowledge of our Master and Saviour Yahusha HaMashiac (2 Peter 3:18). Here you can learn from a wide range of biblically based articles and videos from multiple sources. Also, my website includes the means for you to contribute your knowledge and experience for the same purpose. See CONTACT US in the Menu.

Those new to the faith in the Messiah have an advantage. They have not yet adopted, and hopefully never will, many of the spiritual traditions of the past – the unfruitful traditions that is. These the newborn must guard against and the renewed must overcome. Recall the passage in Matthew 15 where Yeshua quoted Isaiah:

This people draw near to Me with their mouth, and respect Me with their lips,

but their heart is far from Me. ‘But in vain do they worship Me

Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.

I battled with the virgin-birth doctrine for years before dismissing it at long last. My difficulty was not so much with the doctrine itself as it was my confidence in the inerrancy of Scripture. But in the end, I learned to read the two accounts of Yeshua’s birth as they were intended when written by Matthew and Luke. While still miraculous as prophecy fulfilled, the “Holy Spirit” did not get Mary pregnant. Yahusha had an earthly father (Joseph) and an earthly mother (Miriam) just like every other human being ever born.

The problem is two-fold. Bible readers bring the virgin-birth belief to the story when they read the texts. But also, the translators brought their virgin-birth belief to the texts when they translated. Once I saw through this, I could read the biblical texts naturally as they were intended by the inspired authors and confirm my confidence in biblical authority.

There is an outstanding video below that elaborates on the birth of the Messiah by natural means (still miraculous as fulfilled prophecy) in a wonderfully coherent way. But first, why is it important?

It’s important because of the coming outpouring of the Almighty’s spirit as Yahusha Messiah’s reign on the Earth is extended through countless more believing in him and sharing in his reign as kings and priests. This is the promise of his coming. So, let’s not worship in vain, teaching as doctrines the traditions of men. Let’s be determined in the faith, strong in the spirit, and wise in understanding. We owe it to him who has elected us for that purpose.
